2009 Africa Pavilion Ambassadors

Each year a number of Africans are selected as ambassadors for the Folklorama African Pavilion. ACOMI is proud to announce the following selected individuals as ambassadors at the 2008 Folklorama Festival. The 2008 festival will be held from 3rd - 16th August with the Africa Pavilion operating from 10th - 16th August

Ibukun Akin-Agunbiade - Nigeria

Ibukun Akin-Agunbiade was born in Nigeria and has been in Canada for six years. He is completing an Arts degree in International Labour with a Minor in Asian studies at the U of M. His passions are his faith, his love of animals, playing sports, and traveling.

Patricia Kumbakisaka - Congo

Patricia Kumbakisaka has been all over the world! Although her family is originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo she was born in Romania, has lived in Greece and been in Canada for the last nine years. She is fluent in French, Greek, Swahili, Romanian, and of course English and is majoring in Political Sciences at U of M. Patricia has been volunteering at the pavilion since 2005
 

Tracy Ezekwem - Nigeria

Tracy Ezekwem was born in Nigeria and is fluent in the country’s three languages: Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba. She loves to sing, dance, and meet new people, She has been volunteering at the Manitoba Children’s Museum and at the Folklorama Africa Pavilion since 2007. Tracey has traveled with the UMMNA dance group to parts of the U.S. and Canada and she is currently attending Kildonan East Collegiate.
